This International Women’s Day, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible achievements of all women, both inside and outside of our centre.
International Women’s Day is just around the corner and it’s time to celebrate the achievements of women and our wins for gender equality. World Square is proud to be a part of this celebration and this year, we highlight the women who make the World (Square) go round.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is all about celebrating and shouting out the amazing achievements of women worldwide. It’s a day where we recognize the struggles and hard work that women have put in, and continue to put in, to break down barriers and make strides in society.
At World Square, we give distinction to the important roles of women in our success as a shopping destination. From the women who lead our stores and restaurants, to the ones who greet you at the door, we appreciate the valuable contributions that they bring to our community. This International Women’s Day, we want to take a moment to recognize the incredible achievements of all women, both inside and outside of our centre.
Amy Le is the boss lady, founder, and mastermind behind The Duck Group, which includes some seriously bougie cafes like Grand Duck, Naked Duck, and Little Duck. They’re located in the busiest business districts and they’re the kind of places where you can spot some big-shot executives sipping their lattes and talking about stock options.
But that’s not all – Amy is also the boss of Gotcha Fresh Tea, which is killing it with over 70 stores in Australia. They even made it to the top 10 of the best bubble tea joints according to GoodFood. That’s a pretty big deal, y’all.
Now, Amy might have started off studying accounting at Macquarie University, but she’s since taken the hospitality industry by storm. She knows how to run a tight ship and she’s not afraid to use tech to make things even smoother.
Her secret weapons? Strategic planning and innovation, baby. She’s got skills when it comes to small businesses and she’s always hustling to make things better.
And you know what? Amy’s got a mantra she lives by: “Success is no accident, it’s all about the hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most importantly, loving what you do.” Preach, Amy, preach.
Y’all ready to hear about Cheryl? This lady has been running the show at the World Square Australia Post since it opened its doors way back in 2006. And get this – she’s been working for Australia Post for a whopping 34 years. That’s longer than some of us have been alive!
But don’t think for a second that Cheryl is over it. Oh no, this lady loves her job and the diverse community at World Square. She’s got friends for days, y’all.
And let’s talk about Cheryl’s team. She’s all about keeping them focused and motivated to give the best damn customer service around. I mean, we’re talking about Australia Post here – those packages aren’t gonna deliver themselves, people. But Cheryl doesn’t stop there. She’s all about helping her team grow and develop in their careers. That’s some serious boss lady vibes right there.
And speaking of boss ladies, we’re all about celebrating them on International Women’s Day. It’s like the Super Bowl of girl power, where we come together to uplift and support all the amazing women out there.
See what other Women of World Square say about what inspires them:
Umaya: “I enjoy wearing different hats within my life – business owner, managing staff, mother and wife. It has skilled me to quickly adjust to new experiences and perspectives in life”
GYG “As a woman I lead my team, by thinking and acting with the conscious intent of including everyone”.
World Square General Manager: “I hope to inspire and empower other women into leadership roles”
World Square Cleaner: “We are all the same what works for women works for men too, everyone wants to spend more time with family, travelling and learning new skills”
Hungry Paulie: “I strongly believe that anyone in a leadership role can make small impacts that, over time, create meaningful results”
